The Planning Commission is a group of appointed people who draft a comprehensive plan and a zoning ordinance for a township. They also make recommendations to the township board on proposed changes. Their main duty is to be an advisory group to the township board in all things planning and zoning. They do not take the place of the Planning and Zoning Administrator, as individually they have no authority. But collectively as a commission they provide guidance for land use and development in the community.

**Third Tuesday.

Most meetings for the Planning Commission are on the fourth Tuesday of the month, and start at 6:30 p.m. The only exception is the third Tuesday in December to not conflict with Christmas. The asterisks* before the date means this is a solid meeting date. The ones without asterisks are “on-call” dates in case we have a Special Use application or Site Plan Review to handle. You will be notified by the first of the
month if one of those two instances are coming for that month.

Note: The Zoning Administrator will still be sending his reports to the commission each month as to permits, training opportunities, and other relevant materials.
The Chair of the Planning Commission can also call any month as a regular meeting or can call Special Meetings with 18 hour notices.
Any two other planning commissioners can call everyone to a regular meeting or a Special Meeting for any reason. Special Meetings will be for one agenda item only.
